Decision taken

It's been a tough year. It's been a tough ten year long period of my life through ups and down. In less than ten years I've lost my mum and my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. They're both gone now. Forever. Crazy.

Riding through misty Ireland, Summer 2009
This summer, as part of the process to heal my grieving heart, I'm planning to go back to riding in Ireland, combining most of my passions in one holiday. I've got plenty of time (40 days) but not a lot of energy. So I'm working out almost every day as hard as I can to get in shape for the trip. I'll be travelling alone most of the time. But Emily will pedal along in some parts - guess Connemara.

Spending these last school days (I'm a teacher) daydreaming about riding the emerald isle. That beautiful country I fell in love with as first sting. I'm preparing the bike, bought some new stuff, adapted old stuff to the new challenge. The plan is to ride all around Ireland in 40 days. Altogether it's a rough 3,000km we're talking about. Nothing extreme, but it requires training, both mental and physical.

As I'll be travelling on a budget, I will spend my nights camping and cooking my meals. Can't allow to spend a fortune in B&B's (though it might be a special treat from time to time).

More updates to come soon.
